HSC exams start Apr 5
Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations will begin on April 5 instead of earlier announced date of April 1.
Eight education boards, the Technical Education Board and Madrasa Education Board will conduct the nearly two-month-long examinations for 2011.
On Thursday, the education ministry approved the examinations routine sent by the inter-education board.
Earlier, the ministry in its annual plan announced April 1 for beginning the exams, as like last year.
Board sources said the date was put back by five days taking the ongoing World Cup and public holiday into consideration.
According to the routine, the written examinations of HSC and its equivalent Alim and Business Management will continue until May 31. Practical examinations will be held afterwards.

A total of 7,79,441 examinees are expected to sit for the exams in 2,074 centres under 10 education boards.
Some 4,24,823 male and 3,54,618 female students of 7,288 educational institutions are appearing for the exams.
On the first day, the students are appearing for Bangla First Paper exam that began at 10:00am.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid visited Dhaka College in the morning.
The exams are also being held in five overseas centres in Jeddah, Riyadh, Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Tripoli for a total of 191 candidates.
Ahead of the examination, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) imposed restriction on access within 200 yards of the examination centres to ensure peaceful atmosphere. The restrictions will remain effective on the examination days, said a DMP release.
The written examinations will end on May 31.
Around 6,29,619 lakh students are taking the exam under eight general education boards while 76,957 are taking Alim exam under Madrasa Board and 68,961 sitting for BM exam under Technical Board.
